Justine doesn't think that I post enough about my cats.
I think that I have too many of them right now. I made a blog
where I can post news about cats, either my own news or news
from around the world.
Current Cat Inventory:
wcbstv.com - Louis The Cat In Hot Water After Alleged Attacks: "FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Connecticut house cat is in the dog house, accused of terrorizing a Fairfield neighborhood. Officials are now taking drastic measures to prevent the ferocious feline from striking again."
Mary Jean sent me pictures of her pets for the blog. They are not cats, but I am willing to forgive her. First is Lance: Mary Jean tells me:
He is an eight year old thoroughbred that has a lot of personality. Dealing with that personality has been a whole new learning experience for me. I have to become the lead mare or this herd of two becomes a tug of war.
Next is Snow:
Snow is our 12 year old mutt from the humane society. Most people have their own opinion concerning her genetic make-up. She was very fearful when we adopted her in 1995. But now that fear has been replaced with a protective nature for our family. She likes to stay indoors a lot.
Here are some Sunday cat pics. First is Furry. I went into the attic and I nearly had a heart attack as I came up the stairs. Furry was hiding in a box and peeking out at me.
Next is a very cute picture of Max and Ollie snoozing on the cat shelf next to Erica's desk.
Here is another visitor. We call him Herman. He is goofy looking friendly male, but he is well fed and groomed. I think he only comes once in a while on social calls and a little stolen kibble.
For the last month, a stray black and tortoise shell has been steeling food from the deck. She came this morning and I was able to snap a picture. She is very shy and sits way back in the yard on an old dead tree and waits for a meal opportunity. I need to get a full sidelong shot so you can see the beautiful colors on her flanks. Max sat quietly on the deck and observed her. She did not seem at all afraid of him. The combination of colors, black, yellow and white, is a sex linked trate. All Calicos and Tortoise shell cats (with some white) are females. The question is: Is the tortoise shell pregnant? If she is feral, how will be capture the kittens?
I uploaded Gracie's Video that I made last summer to YouTube.com. This way, I don't have to suffer the bandwidth cost of all of these videos that I've been making. This is Larry's favorite video.
My neighbor found out her cat could hardly hear so she took it to the veterinarian. She found the problem was hair in its ears and cleaned both and then the cat could hear fine.
The vet told the lady if she wanted to keep this from reoccurring she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub in its ears once a month.
The lady goes to the drug store and gets some "Nair" hair remover.
At the register the druggist tells her "If you're going to use this under your arms don't use deodorant for a few days."
The lady says "I'm not using it under my arms."
The druggist says "If you're using it on your legs don't shave for a couple of days."
The lady says "I'm not using it on my legs either and if you must know I'm using it on my himalayan."
The druggist says "Stay off your bicycle for a week.
Cooking for your sick cat My cat is very sick right now, and will stay comfortable if she'll eat. I can't force her to, but I do know there are better and worse ways to try to get the cat to take in some food, unfortunately learned from present and past experience. These aren't especially complete notes, and aren't suitable for every cat in every household.
Orphaned Wyoming Cougar Kittens Bound for New Home: "JACKSON, Wyo., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Four orphaned cougar kittens will go to a new home on Wednesday at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, CO. Discovered in late January after a hunter shot their mother in Jackson, WY, the fourteen week-old siblings likely would not have survived on their own in the wild."
Blue is doing quite well. He appears to have recovered completely from the ordeal of being fixed. He still doesn't like me, but he follows us around again and comes up to the bedroom at night. Blue doesn't jump on things like couches and beds, yet. He stays on the ground mostly. Since he is hardly ever in his hideaway out in the extra room where we put a catbox and some towels for him to sit on, Gracie has taken this space over. She uses the box and sits on top of the desk and looks outside. Blue seems to like Gracie and does not argue with her. (An argument that he would never win.) Blue still does not let me touch him. I am just to big and gruff for him. I still predict that he will be sleeping on the bed by Memorial Day.
'On the bathroom scale he weighs 50 pounds. We took him out to the hog scales and he weighed 46 pounds,' said Joyce Kirk, Iggy's owner.
Iggy stands 14 inches tall, measures nearly 40 inches from whiskers to tail, and boasts a thickset 33-inch waistline. He is larger than most toddlers.
'I've been asked several times if he's a bobcat, and, no, he's a normal cat. We had him tested for that, and he's normal,' Kirk said. 'Iggy is so big that he can't clean himself, so I brush him and even use baby wipes.'
Kirk said the cat's favorite pastime is eating.
'He goes through 30 pounds of food every week,' Kirk said."
The department received a 6 p.m. call that a fire alarm had been activated in room 311 of Pioneer Park Apartments at 515 Vaughn St.
When officers arrived, they determined it wasn't a fire alarm but a call for assistance alert. No one answered an initial knock on the door, however.
When officers gained entry to the apartment, they discovered there was nobody there, except for a cat. It had been playing with the call for assistance electrical cord, activating the alarm.
Seven on-duty officers responded to the kitty call."
Dora Maar With Cat, which depicts one of the Spanish artist's many lovers, is expected to fetch $50m (£28.5m) when it goes on sale in New York on 3 May."
Hamilton Spectator - News: "We live on a farm with barns. We do not 'own' any cats. We do, however, have cats -- animals abandoned in the country by their city owners."
